Condolences to the Family of Mary E. Mandeville

2020

Duck and family, I as so sad to hear of your loss. Mary was one of a kind. Yes We really appreciated each other’s humor. We had a great time working with each other at Friendlys on Washington St in Weymouth. Mary would imitate our manager’s outrageous laugh. The times we would see each other over the years would always bring back fond, precious and memorable memories. It is very sad she will no longer be with us.

Dear Dick and the kids (as Mary called them), I was so saddened to learn of the passing of "Miss Mary". My deepest sympathy's are with you and the family. I met "Miss Mary" my 1st day of new hire training for Member Services at Harvard Pilgrim. We were in the same training class. I remember thinking how cute and sweet she was. Then we went on a 10 min break and she came out with us to smoke (we all still smoked back then), and she started telling a very funny story about something one of the grandchildren had done and it had a few bad words in it. By the end of the story, I had tears rolling down my face from laughing so hard & I was thinking she is the coolest Granny ever. From that point on she became know as "Miss Mary". "Miss Mary" will forever be the coolest granny that Member Services ever had.

Dick and Family, I am so sorry for your loss. I will miss Mary dearly. She always made me smile. Her spirit in the office was upbeat and positive always cracking jokes. Last I saw Mary, I had cleaned her desk as she was kind enough to let me use it while she worked at home, when she came in she noticed it right away and said you missed a spot!! Her warm smile and kind heart will be forever remembered on the 4th floor . Prayers to your family during these most trying days ahead. Miss you already Mary, your friend Anita

My first impression of Mary when I met her in 2015 at Harvard Pilgrim is one of my favorite memories. I saw a strong, gentle, friendly, beautiful, and wise woman. And that was all before I interacted with her. Although Mary reported to me, I was her CSS at the time, I never felt like her boss or superior. I felt she respected me and I respected her, so our work relationship was very different than with other representatives. Although Mary and I moved to other roles and departments, we would check in with each other. One of the aspects I've learned with working for Harvard for my little time of 7 years (as opposed to Mary's 22) is that many people leave the company or get promoted to new roles and departments. And majority of the people I knew at one point in my career I either don't talk to any more at all or when I do see them in passing, it's a smile and head nod. But Mary, it was different. She was one of a few (that I can count on 2 hands) that kept in touch with me. Whether it was a quick instant message or asking a close friend of mine who worked in her area how I was doing. We used to try and get together during our lunch shifts and talk for a few minutes in passing. And I truly enjoyed every minute I got to spend with her. I am so grateful to have had her in my life, even though it was small, she impacted it, and for that I am honored to call her a true friend. To Dick and her wonderful family, I am so sorry for your loss. We lost a beautiful light, but heaven gained an angel. And she will be watching over each and every one of you. Gone but never forgetten.

Mary Mandeville was a pillar of love and humor. Mary was a stalwart figure who embrace my husband and I with love and support. She always knew how to make us smile and put someone in their place. She had a charm that was like no one I had (and still have not) ever met. My Husband and I are heartbroken for her loss in this world. She is a once-in-a-lifetime human being and we are all better for having known her. We send our love to the entire Mandeville family.
