I'm really sorry for your loss. Though I never knew her outside of school, in school she was a great teacher and I loved her class. She was a great drama teacher and drama will never be the same. She pushed us all to do our best and everyone who knew her became a better person because of it. She was a great person and I am going to miss her.

Mrs. McDonough made a big impact on my children and our family. Two out of three were lucky enough to have her as a teacher. She also encouraged my kids to be involved in the drama group and that there are many talents that go into creating a show. She recognized their talents and encouraged my kids and helped them shine. I always enjoyed my conversations with her. She was a funny lady and a great person. Rest in peace.

The passing of such a legend is such a shock. She took a chance on me even when no words would come out, when I tried out for my first play. She would say “can she tap dance” and I could. And she would say “okay that’s all I need”. As I got older she would say Kristen, we are not in school anymore! Call me Joyce! I just couldn’t, out of respect and well it felt weird. She touched so many lives, and had a huge impact on mine. Jill and Pam thank you for sharing your Mother with us. And Paul my heart and prayers are with you at this difficult unimaginable loss of an amazing woman. God bless all of you. All my love. Kristen Schmiemann

Joyce was the next door neighbor at Chapman when I worked there. She was quite a lady. She will be missed.

When I first met Joyce, I knew I had met someone. Joyce was, is, and always will be someone. She had in spades what Maria Callas called "presence." Her presence, while both palpable and memorable, could also be stunningly breath-taking to anyone who either exceeded her expectations or who, inexplicably, didn't meet her expectations. Everyone who met Joyce met Someone, Someone very special!!

I’m deeply saddened to hear the passing of this beautiful lady . I’ve had two occasions when Joyce entered my life, First she was the teacher for my children and also there exceptional drama teacher as well. When I’d see her she would say here comes another Ivil child being we had 5 children we spent a lot of time visiting Joyce at Chapman 😊 When I was introduced to her by my children we hit it off right away she truly made a difference in my children's lives as well as my own I was definitely blessed to have Joyce as my professor at Quincy College as an adult learner going back to school it was difficult but Joyce would come in early for several of us students and go over materials that were giving us trouble she never said no to a challenge. She will definitely be missed by all who had the opportunity to have known her Heaven just got another beautiful 😢😇

So sorry to hear of the passing of this lovely lady. She made a very big impact on my daughters school life, having her as her homeroom teacher, science teacher& drama teacher. She was always full of life, Witt & laughter. Condolences to the whole family.

Joyce , You were the life of the science office at Weymouth High School while often bringing all to uncontrollable laughter. You lived life to the fullest of anyone I know. Rest in peace.
