Condolences

Condolences to the Family of Edward F. Manning, Jr.

2020

Uncle Ed will be truly missed by all. Despite the challenges in his life, he was always in a good mood and had a great sense of humor. I enjoyed the many times he came to visit our family all over the world. He was always very interested in the events in our lives and kept in touch frequently, despite the distance that was usually between us.

After 45+ years of "brotherly" friendship and love, I will sorely miss Ed. We've had many laughs and teasing moments throughout the years as well as have worked together through his life's issues, struggles and concerns. He was my hero in his perseverance in overcoming many life obstacles with amazing strength and acceptance.

We are saddened at the news of Ed's passing and our thoughts and prayers are with you. We worked with Ed at the Corps of Engineers and he always had a joke for me, followed by a great big smile and delightful laugh. And of course delivered in his Boston accent. It was a pleasure to have served with Ed.

Col. Joseph Manning, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Edward; He was a fantastic individual who will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Edward was a valuable and highly respected member of our team at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District. The effects of his loss are being felt already by those of us who had the honor and pleasure of working with him and especially I as his supervisor. Joseph, Edward always looked up to you and was extremely proud of your military career. I’m so sorry I could not be there in person to convey my condolences. Though I may be far away, know that my spirit and prayers are with you and the family of Edward. May God bless and comfort you and your family, Sincerely, Peter Fleckenstein
