Hello Dempsey Family-- I regret that I will be away and unable to express my condolences on Bill's passing to all of you personally. Your Dad Bill was always a gentleman....perhaps the most positive person I have known. Personally, he greeted me as I walked into Weymouth HS as a rookie social studies teacher and coach, and warmly encouraged me in my early days of teaching and coaching....even entrusting me to teach a number of you..the Dempsey kids. And I, of course, enjoyed working for him, as I coached Weymouth Track kids. Bill was respected by everyone..colleagues, kids in his classes, and members of his teams. He made people feel good about themselves! And he was very proud of you...his kids. He always gave credit to your mother Wilma for all her efforts toward the welfare of the family...with a bit of a guilty smile as made tennis arrangements for Saturday morning. Even in his mid-80's, Bill answered my call for him to assist the Weymouth Retired Teacher Organization in our efforts to maintain affordable health insurance for retirees. He responded positively immediately and assisted us in dealing with town pols to maintain our insurance. I know you will share many happy stories about your dad with your friends and family over the next few days. He made Weymouth and Weymouth schools a better place! With fond memories of Bill, My very best to the entire Dempsey family!
