Condolences to the Family of Beverly Tena McDonald

2019

Beverly...not Bev.....as she informed me when we first met after her move to Duxbury...was my next door neighbor. She walked Mabel throughout the day, loved her yard full of perennials (and no lawn) and counted the days until it was time to be warm in Florida again once fall was over. She joined a gathering at my house on Labor Day and thanked me so much for inviting her,I told her to plan on it every year. Thinking of her family and friends at this sad time, and so glad to hear that Mabel is loving her new home.

Three weeks ago, I was out doing yard work and wondering when Beverly would arrive home from Florida. Sadly, 1 week later I heard of her tragic loss. I met Beverly about 4 years ago as she walked her little rescue dog through my Mom’s neighborhood. Beverly had a way about her to keep to herself but upon her stopping to talk I realized she was quiet out of being shy and respectful. When Beverly spoke she had something meaningful to say. Beverly would often talk about her son and grandson in Weymouth, all of her flowers/shrubs on her property and her winter in Florida. She would take the time to ask about me and my family. There is a great sense of void among her immediate neighbors. One neighbor shared a story that prior to Beverly leaving for Florida last Fall, which was around Halloween, Beverly asked our neighbor what her 3 kids liked for candy on Halloween and prior to her leaving for Florida...she wrapped their favorite candy bars and left them in the neighbors mailbox for the kids. May all the fond memories of your Mom/Beverly get you through today, tomorrow and the days to come.

My sympathies to Brendan,Rebecca & Harrison. This huge loss filing them with sadness. Bev (only one allowed to cal her that) was my friend since we were 11, so many “firsts” & mischief we experienced over many years. Lucky to reconnect each Winter in Florida. Her compassion and caring for people and animals was amazing. Big hole in my heart without her. May Brendan keep memories of “Meme” for his son . She was proud and loved her son & grandson deeply. Wishing the family strength, love & happiness in the time ahead.
