Condolences to the Family of Virginia A. Behm

2019

So sorry I was not able to attend the services. By far my favorite childhood memories were sailing with the Behm family. To be on board Fantasy was just that a fantasy. She could sleep 3 in the aft cabin, had steps on the stern, a gas stove and a pumping head. Way ahead of her time! Best chowder ever was Ginny's made from freshly found clams we swam for in Hadley's harbor. Dingy sailing, swimming, a game of Uno and a banjo sing-along under the stars would cap off the night. A dream. In later years I would always enjoy having Ginny onboard Bittersweet. No need for autopilot with Ginny onboard, she would never give up the wheel. My deepest condolences to Connie, Jennifer, Gretchen, Jonathon and their families.

I grew up nearby going through school with Gretchen. In the winters between 1990 and 2000 I would make sure Mrs Behm’s driveway was clear of snow so she could get to work I assumed before everyone else since it was often dark. Now I read about her adventurous life and it all makes sense now, Mrs Behm would definitely seize her days. My heart goes out to the entire Behm family!!
