To the best teacher I ever had that taught me carpentry. Truly, a man of great talents. Mr.Gillis taught be the basis of carpentry during my short months in his class as a vocational course. My heart goes out to the Gillis family. Donnie was a kind, soft-spoken, intelligent gentleman and it was fun to grow up with him as a classmate. Growing up in Hull was a privilege and knowing Donnie was part of that spirit. I will never forget the time we visited Florida with the McBrides and Gillis families. I worked with Don at BHS. He was a kind and gentle man. He worked so hard to become a successful teacher and tried anything that was suggested to improve his teaching abilities. He was a great addition to our department and will be forever missed. Rest In Peace Don.

My heartfelt condolences. We all grew up together and having just recently saw him at Keri's annual get together makes it harder. What an accomplished person he was and very quietly humble. Hull breeds that in you. I am sorry for our loss.

Condolences to the Gillis family. There is a great sense of sadness here today after hearing of your loss. I got to know and converse with Donald Gillis several years ago. I really enjoyed his great, timely and sometimes dry sense of humour. He thought outside of the box was very smart, a good teacher and a person who saw the world as it really is. His international perspectives and views kept him ahead of the mundane. He will certainly be missed by those who were lucky to have known him. To Donald Gillis, miss you my cousin, peace.
