Greetings, I just wanted to pay my respects, albeit in a very belated fashion, to the military veteran Walter, with whom I would have loved to have corresponded with. Knowledge of Walter's passing came to me only today largely because we share the same last name; in fact, his first name was the same as my great grandfather's, who was the first Pecevich in my family to travel to Ellis Island from what was then Imperial Russian shortly before the start of the Great War (WWI). My condolences go out to the relatives and loved ones of Walter that I am now addressing, seemingly at random and without prior acquaintance. Upon reading about your respected elder and the stations he held, his occupations in the Army and in public transportation, I saw that his character commanded both my gratitude and respect. Therefore, I posthumously extend my gratitude to Walter for his selfless service to both country and community. May he rest in peace and may his memory be eternal. Вечная Память! Respectfully, Jan
