Condolences to the Family of Father Arthur M. Calter

2019

I wish I'd have known how to contact Father Calter before he passed away. I served in the 101st Airborne in 1969, and attended one of his masses in the field prior to an air assault into the mountains near the DMZ. Father Calter was a comforting presence in the field and he was respected by soldiers of all faiths. I will pray that God will be as kind to his soul as Father Calter was to his flock.

Dear Calter family - Fr. Calter and my brother, Fr. Larry Drennan (RIP) were long-time friends, joining together on Friday evenings with other priests for friendly dinners for several years and at their respective family homes on the Cape during some summer evenings. What a gathering of great men who serve the Lord!! ...and in Fr. Art's case, serving his country as well during that serious conflict in SE Asia!! What honor and loyalty to his priesthood and soldier/families he demonstrated for those many years. I am certain his remaining family will miss him greatly, and it is with deep prayerful sympathies that I offer this memory of our 'brothers' and a simple expression of personal sympathy. How fitting that our Lord should call Fr. Art on Easter!! :) May our Lord shower you all with numerous blessings during these times of grief. With love and caring - Mrs. Ann (Drennan) Forsyth, Germantown, TN

We were very touched to hear of the passing of Father Calter, having fond memories of his presence here in Saint Ann Parish as " A Very Dedicated Senior Priest" in his service to the church! Truly, he impacted our lives in his preaching and counseling. He was an inspiration !!! Our lives were blessed by his ministry! Richard & Maureen Murphy
