Please accept my deepest sympathy for the loss of your beloved son, Neal J. Tompkins. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers. Although, I did not know your son, I understand the depth of the loss of your child. My son, Gregory Kelly Porter, died unexpectedly in Hingham on July 23, 2008. I found assistance with The Compassionate Friends, a non-denominational support group of other people who have lost a son or daughter or a brother or sister of any age for any reason. A local chapter of this group meets on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM in the Parish House of St. Paul’s Church, 20 Fearing Rd., Hingham, MA. For our personal contact information, please call the funeral home and they will provide it to you.

Kathy, Jeff, Meredith and JT: You have been in our thoughts and prayers from the moment we heard this terrible news. We will always cherish memories of Neal from the Ridge Hill School and play date days, especially the Beanie babies out the window one. That one will always bring a smile! I know your memories of Neal will make you smile and ease your hearts. Much love from all of us.

Our hearts go out to you Thompkins family, Neal's girlfriend and friends, who have to deal with the unexpected loss of your son and brother, boyfriend and friend. We wish you all the strength you need to cope and come to terms with this tragedy. Our son's (Bart Buurman) heart is broken and so is ours by only the thought of being in your shoes. Please know that you are in our hearts, thoughts and prayers in the very difficult time to come. Hugging Bart felt extremely special when he came home after the vigil on Friday. Bart went back to Burgess with a broken heart but with the strength of Neal's positive look at life and Bart will succeed to make session 3 and 4 as good as Neal would have wanted. Love Annemienke and Ed Buurman.
