Shelley SeguinWe first met Mel during our years with the girlscouts on our townwide encampments. Of course her gift of music and song were the bond at the campfires, and helped to encourage all to join in. She was an inspiration to all with her big heart and generous acts of volunteering. Our deepest sympathies to all her family and friends.
Jim, Bobbie and Danielle HooperTo know Mel was truly to love her. We met in the 1980s at Camp Wabasso and were reunited many years ago through the Leader's Great Escape. I can never sing a camp song without her coming to mind, and that shall not change so I will never forget the way she touched my life. Mel was the kindest of souls, who always put others first; not just her friends. She had a joyous spirit that made you want to just be in her presence. We would laugh and giggle together like girls and sometimes slip away to enjoy "the chapel" at Camp Wabasso for a few minutes together every year. While I never met her family, please know that her extended Girl Scout Family are broken hearted for and with you. Ann "Dona" Fogarty
Ann FogartyGirl Scouts are what brought Mel and I together, thus we became fast friends. I'll miss our Thursday "date" nights, we only dined in Hull!! Mel's spirit will stay alive in this community because she was such a part of it. We should all live by her example. Blessings and love to her family. XOXO
Ann SeligMany condolences to Mary Ellen's family, she was a wonderful person.
DeniseKOn behalf of the Camp Runels family, we send our thoughts, prayers and love to the entire Hurley family. We've had the pleasure of having Pixel as part of our camp family for several years now and we see so much of Mel in her. We've also had the opportunity to know Mel through the Great Escape committee and her joyous spirit, love of life, and devotion to her family, friends and community will be greatly missed. Our love to all of you during this time.

Marcia BumbaloughLike most others who knew Mary Ellen, I was shocked to learn of her unexpected passing. It was a blessing to work with her: her affable nature, her kindness, her facility with teenagers, her readiness to offer assistance, her sense of humor, her intelligence and her innate goodness .... all will be missed. My sincerest condolences to her family and close friends. Roberta Devlin
Roberta Devlin, GED English Teacher at WellspringOur hearts are broken for all of you. So grateful Mel had 16 years back in the arms of her first mother. She has left a hole in many hearts, but lived her short life to the fullest. She is an inspiration to many. Always just a whisper away... Much love to all of you...
