To my Papa. My heart hurts knowing I have to say goodbye to you in this world. Over the last couple of days I have really had a hard time facing reality and trying to be strong but then all of the sudden all of these memories came flashing back into my head. I remember when I was little and I would come inside from playing and you would help me wash my hands. I remember your big warm hands would cover mine and you would help me rub the soap together and then run the warm water over them. It made me feel so safe. Another memory I had was when I would look out the window and see you and Noni holding hands walking down towards our house. I’m so happy I spent all those years with you here at my house, with the TV blasting and everyone saying “Papa could you try to turn the volume down a little?”. Or when we would have dinner and we would have to make sure the temperature of the plate and the food was “just right”. I always admired how you would make friends everywhere you went, especially Nantasket beach and Castle Island. I thought it was so beautiful that you could go up to a stranger and talk to them and they would open up to you and tell you their life story. And right after I thought of all these things it dawned on me. Although I’ve always known life is so precious, it really is the small, even teeny tiny things that we hold on to the most and carry on with us forever. Your faith in God changed my life Papa and I thank you so much for everything you did for me and I hope I was a wonderful granddaughter to you. If anyone comes across this I ask that you take a moment to pray for my papa and pray for all of the people in this world. I know that even though Papa is in heaven he would be so proud if I could bring people together to pray for all those who are less fortunate than us. I truly believe in the power of prayer in numbers and from this day forward I promise to always take time out of my day to pray for others

My dearest Papa, may you rest peacefully in eternal peace. You lived your life the way it should be lived; with generosity, kindness, selflessness, compassion and an undying admiration for all of the Lord's beautiful and subtle gifts. You showed me God at a very tender age and always explained that "he is everywhere". While all of your seven children, eleven grandchildren and their spouses or significant others sat by your bedside during your final hours, the one thought that came to mind was what a beautiful representation it was of the true testament of your life. While your six great grandchildren were nestled safe at home those of them old enough never failed to offer prayer and ask questions of their grand papa. You had such a special way of expressing what truly matters in this wonderful and magnificent gift of life. You filled my heart with a passionate faith that continues to resonate to this day! I love you Papa and I will miss you...
