Yvonne E. Gillis

Yvonne E. Gillis passed away peacefully this beautiful Easter morning after 4 days of hospice care. She was surrounded by family.

Born in 1925 in Brussels Belgium she spent important parts of her youth under German occupation. After the war, while in Brussels, she met and married Kenneth Gillis of 44 Essex Street in Weymouth. They promptly returned to Weymouth where they raised a family. Yvonne participated in church activities at East Weymouth Congregational, was a long time member of several art associations, while building a career that took her to The Gillette World Headquarters in the Prudential Center in Boston. There she managed Transportation Services, The company Post Office, Employee Benefits, and the Company Store all at the same time.

Kenneth predeceased her in 1980, but she is survived by three children and their spouses, 5 grandchildren and one great grandson.

There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, April 29 at 1PM at East Weymouth Congregational Church, 1320 Commercial St, East Weymouth, MA 02189.

There will be a second small service later in the summer in North Haven, Maine, where her ashes will be buried beside her husband in a family plot.
