O’Neill, William D., A 58 year resident of Weymouth, originally from Brighton, died June 20, 2017 at the age of 83.
Bill proudly served in the U.S. Army, including 26 years in the Army Reserves. He retired from Instron after many years, where he worked in planning and logistics. A dedicated volunteer, Bill gave his time to many, including the Weymouth Senior Center, South Shore Hospital, teaching swimming to people with special needs and coaching countless youth sports teams. He was an avid runner, loved watching the New England Patriots, and enjoyed the outdoors while vacationing in Maine. Bill and his wife enjoyed 23 cruises together.
Husband of the late Grace “Chickie” (DiBellis) O’Neill. Loving father of Bill O’Neill and wife Carol, Joanne Delaporta and husband Ken, all of Canton, and Jeanne Pacheco of Weymouth. Devoted “Papa” of Dan Delaporta and wife Alysha, Aimee Lima and husband Matthew, Raechel Pacheco, Nathan Pacheco, Alyson O’Neill, and Benjamin O’Neill. Brother of Neil O’Neill of FL, Arlene Stockbridge of Quincy, and the late Frank O’Neill, Margaret Marks, Barbara Caruso and Paul O’Neill. Also lovingly survived by a long time group of loyal friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 5-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury. Donations in memory of Bill may be made to the Missionary Society of Saint James, 24 Clark St., Boston, MA 02109.
