Veteran

Wesley C. Gustafson

The Lord called Wesley C. Gustafson, 97, home to eternal glory on November 8, 2020 with his family by his side after a brief hospice at home in Weymouth.

Wes Gustafson will long be remembered for his dedication to sharing his love for our Lord Jesus and the message of salvation. His memorization of over a thousand verses of Scripture allowed him to share timely verses with family and friends up until the day before he went home to be with Jesus. He wanted everyone he met to know how Jesus had changed his life and how Jesus could change the lives of everyone, even those who thought they were beyond the grace of God.

Wes loved his family more than anything on this earth. His love for his “Princess” and late wife of 54 years, Sheila Gustafson, was a tremendous example of how Christ loved the church and how husbands are commanded to love their wives. His love for and constant prayers for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were influential in turning each of their lives to Christ and to inspiring them to continue his message of salvation.

Wes was a graduate of MIT and served as an engineer for many years for General Dynamics. He served briefly in the Navy during World War II and passed on a desire to serve our country to his children. His daughter, Karen, served 26 years in the Army, and his son, Carl, served 10 years in the Army Reserve.

Wes is preceded in death by his parents, Gunnar S. Gustafson and Signe M. Gustafson, both Swedish immigrants to America. He is also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sheila M. Gustafson. Wes is the loving father of Karen F. Lloyd and her husband, Pat, of Seguin, Texas; Carl L. Gustafson and his wife, Cherri, of Sandwich, Illinois; and Erik Gustafson of Weymouth. He is the cherished grandfather of Erica A. Kraft and her husband, Sam; David W. Gustafson; and Cara J. Gustafson. He is blessed to be the great-grandfather of Laurel Grace Kraft, Ava Rayne Kraft, and Weston James Kraft.
