Walter G. Sullivan

Walter G. Sullivan of Marshfield, originally from Mission Hill, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2024. He was 90 years old. 

Born in Boston he was the son of the late Walter and Margaret Sullivan (Flatley). He was a graduate of Mission High Class of 1951 and Boston College Class of 1955. Walter also earned a graduate degree from Northeastern University. Walter and his wife Margaret (Peggy) met as kids playing Monopoly on the back porch. They married young by today’s standards and enjoyed over 60 years of marriage, building a loving legacy of family and friendships over their years spent in Braintree, Falmouth, and Naples, Florida. Walter enjoyed a successful career in banking and then in retirement, put that acumen to good use as a supremely shrewd Bridge player. A single child, he became accustomed to the ever expanding galaxy of family surrounding him and was known for always making room for one more at the table. Walter and Peggy enjoyed international travel into their 80’s and drew immense pride and joy in the growth and personal accomplishments of their children and grandchildren.  

Beloved husband of the late Margaret C. Sullivan (Donovan). Loving father of Walter F. Sullivan and his wife Paula of Marshfield, the late Francis Sullivan and his surviving wife Catherine of Wilmington N.C. Stephen G. Sullivan of Palm Springs CA and Susan Holzman and her husband Michael of Marshfield. Cherished grandfather Michael Sullivan of Brooklyn NY, Cameron Sullivan of Somerville, Victoria Blase and her husband Nico of Billerica, Matthew Holzman of Marshfield, Julianne Sullivan of Lowell and Jennifer Holzman of Marshfield. Will also be missed by many extended family members and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Saturday 10:00-12:00 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday at 12 PM in McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main St. (Rt. 18 opp. South Shore Hospital) , Weymouth. Burial to follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
