Virginia M. Haley McKee

Haley McKee, Virginia M. (Pickett) of Hingham, died on  November 26, 2022, she was 98.  Former wife of the late Thomas Haley and the late Harry McKee. Loving mother of Thomas Haley and his wife Judy of Duxbury, David Haley and his wife Jan of Gilford, NH. Suzanne Dowd and her husband Thomas of Atlanta, GA and John Haley and his wife Carol of Weymouth. Sister of Carolyn Turner of Youngstown, Ohio and the late Robert Pickett and Eileen Quirk. Virginia is also survived by 9 grandchildren and many great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

Ginny was born in Hingham on May 28, 1924. She attended Hingham Public Schools, graduating from Hingham High School Class of 1941, where she was active in sports every season of the year. During WWII, she worked at the Naval Ship Yard in Hingham and married her husband Tom Haley, helping raise their family and becoming fully engaged in town activities and Saint Paul’s Catholic Parish. She as a past President of the Mothers Club. Following the death of her husband Tom in 1973, Ginny pursued work in the moving and storage business and later as a Real Estate Broker in Hingham. In 2002, Ginny married Harry McKee of Hingham, moving to Cape Cod for the next 15 years. Upon Harry’s passing, Ginny relocated to Linden Ponds in Hingham. Ginny loved all sporting activities and was an avid golfer. She also enjoyed watching college and professional football. Ginny’s enthusiasm for life and love of family were paramount and her “presences” will be missed by all who knew her.

Relative and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Monday, Dec. 5th at 10am in St. Paul’s Church, 157 North St.

Burial will be private. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Virginia may be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children Research, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
