Thomas J. Gleason

Thomas J. Gleason, Retired Boston Police Detective, of Quincy, passed away suddenly at home Sunday morning, March 31, 2019.  

Born in Malden, he was the son of the late Francis W. Gleason.  Thomas was a 1958 graduate of Hyde Park High School.  He was a United States Marine Corp Veteran.  Thomas was a Boston Police Detective, retiring after 36 years of dedicated service. He was the recipient of many awards and citations during his illustrious career, including the BPD Medal of Honor, George L. Hannah Medal of Honor and the Schroeder Brothers Medal of Honor he also received a commendation from President Nixon for a heroic rescue.  He was a long time member at Furnace Brook Golf Course in Quincy where he played and won many tournaments. His love for golf led him to become the President of the Twi-League for many years.

Thomas was the beloved husband of Denise (Tierney) Gleason of Quincy; devoted father of Kelley Hall and her husband Timothy of Weymouth, Thomas Gleason Jr. and his wife Johanna of Sweden, Timothy Gleason and his wife Kamile of Marshfield, and Jessica Hughes and her husband Mathew of Quincy; very proud Papa of Amanda, Rebecca, Emily, Elise, Kylee, and Kennedy.  He was the brother of John Gleason of NV, Jean DiSantos of FL, and the late Vivian Falcone.  Also survived by Carl Demrow of VT. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday from 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. Family and friends will gather once more in the funeral home beginning at 9 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Parish at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Quincy at 10 o’clock. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
