Sean Christopher O’Connell

SSG Sean C. O’Connell of Rockland, died October 15, 2016.

Sean is a Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom 2003, Operation Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan 2010-2011, and 2014. He is a recipient of the Combat Action Badge and multiple commendations. A beloved son, brother, friend, soldier, and native of Rockland, MA. While he was currently serving on active duty with the Army Corps of Engineers, Sean was also a proud member of Local 4 Union of Operating Engineers. In addition to his combat tours, SSG O’Connell made huge impacts during missions including mentorship programs advising Paraguayan military forces, supporting United States Border Patrol operations, construction of roads and facilities in several states, and supporting the community during several state emergencies here in Massachusetts. In addition to his commendable service time, Sean could often be found fishing, hunting and spending time in Maine. He had a zest for life and lived every day to the fullest. Sean’s laugh was as big as his heart. He will be dearly missed. 

Cherished son of John and Susan (O’Neill) O’Connell of Rockland. Loving brother of Michael and Kevin O’Connell of Rockland. Beloved grandson of Patricia Comeau of Quincy. Also lovingly survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, fellow servicemen and dear friends. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).

The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM in Holy Family Church, Rockland.

Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Rockland.
