Sara R. Curry

Curry, Sara R. (DeJoseph) of Quincy, died December 21, 2017 at the age of 92.

Sara was a resident of Quincy for 65 years and was born and raised in South Boston. She passed away peacefully in her home.

In her younger years, she worked at the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston. Family was the cornerstone of Sara’s life. Sunday dinners with family and friends was a labor of love. Well known for her delicious meatballs and sauce, her Italian cooking skills were amazing. Her door was always opened and everyone was welcomed with a big smile and open arms. Aside from cooking, she loved listening to Frank Sinatra, attending Broadway plays and musicals, and was a passionate Boston sports fan, especially her beloved Red Sox. Sara had a wonderful sense of humor and was a fiercely independent and proud woman. She loved to talk politics and was very well read. Her spirits were lifted when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren came to visit along with her family dogs, Louie and Izzy.

Beloved wife to the late Martin J. Curry, Sr., former business agent Local 10 Plasterer Union Boston and labor consultant to Former Mayor Kevin H. White. Cherished mother to Martin Curry, Jr. and his wife Peggy of Quincy, Janis Bertoni and her husabnd Bob of Ridgewood, NJ, the late Deborah Mann Curry of Quincy, and Susan Magoon and her husband Kevin of Quincy. Sister to the late Julia Conley of Quincy. Caring grandmother to Matthew, Christopher, Steven, James, Lizzy, Robert, Kevin, Courtney, Lauren. Loving great-grandmother to Tate, Flynn, Grace, Nicholas, Isabelle, Avery and Tess.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM at the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Agatha’s Church, Milton at 10:30 AM. Burial at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
