Ruth C. Larkin

Larkin, Ruth C. (Clahane), of Hingham, formerly of East Lansing MI, passed away on July 20, 2015, at the age of 98.

Ruth was born in Lexington, MA and grew up in Concord, MA.  She graduated from Radcliffe College and received her Master’s Degree in Education from Michigan State University.  Ruth worked as a teacher and as a reading specialist in East Lansing, MI and Taiwan.  After marrying the love of her life, George Larkin, Ruth traveled extensively during George’s military officer career. They lived all over the world including Germany, West Point, NY,  Taiwan and other locations.  In 1960, Ruth and George settled in East Lansing, MI where they developed many close friends.  Ruth was a member of the PEO Sisterhood, a scholarship foundation with the mission of promoting educational opportunities for women.  She enjoyed playing bridge and golf, but more than anything else, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.  

Beloved wife of the late Col. George T. Larkin, US Army Ret. Loving mother of Mary-Ann Wetherill of VA and her late husband Roderick, Jane McNulty and her husband William of Pembroke, Ellen Noblet and her husband Richard of ME, and the late George “Thomas” Larkin, Jr., and his wife Wendy of MO.  Devoted “Nana Ruth” of Joann and Mark Wetherill, Thomas McNulty, Katelyn Stevens, Michael, Daniel, and Gregory Noblet, and Sean, Collin, and Connor Larkin and 10 great grandchildren. Caring sister of the late Elizabeth and James Clahane.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.  

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday from 11 AM to 12 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. Funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday at 12 PM in Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, Hingham. Burial at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Washington DC.
