Rocco DeVito

Rocco DeVito, of Hingham, passed away on Friday March 20, 2020.

Born in Amaroni Catanzaro, Italy he was a son of the late Giuseppe DeVito, and Lucia (Sergi). Rocco was raised and educated in Italy, and later lived in Switzerland for 12 years prior to emigrating with his young family to the United States. He was a mason, and worked many years for Glastonbury Abbey. Rocco enjoyed gardening and wood carving, and loved music and singing. The greatest joys in Rocco’s life came from time spent with his family.

Rocco was the beloved husband of Maria (Esposito) DeVito of Hingham, and the devoted father of Josephine DeVito Casey of Weymouth and her late husband Dennis, and Daniela DeVito Sampson and her husband Mark of Hingham. He was the proud grandfather of Sofia DeVito Sampson of Hingham, and the brother of Frank DeVito and his wife Catherine of Quincy, Ralph DeVito and his wife Illuminata of Cohasset, and the late Antonio DeVito and his late wife Teresa. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service and burial will take place at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Hingham. A memorial Mass in celebration of Rocco’s life will be announced on the funeral home website.
