Robert E. Haley, Jr.

Robert E. Haley Jr. of Quincy passed peacefully from this life surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, February 23, 2023.  Bobby was born in Boston to the late Mary and Robert Haley, grew up in Weymouth, and lived on the South Shore his entire life. He graduated from Weymouth High School in 1968 where he was captain of the hockey team and was later inducted into the Weymouth High Athletics Hall of Fame.  He attended Boston College where he continued his hockey career and later became president of the team’s Pikes Peak Booster Club.

Bobby had a successful thirtyfive year professional career as a financial planner and insurance advisor for banks throughout New England.  He particularly enjoyed his many years of service on the board of Coastal Heritage Bank where he was currently serving as Vice Chairman.

In his personal life, Bobby had wide variety of interests.  He continued to play men’s hockey with old friends in various leagues and tournaments all over Massachusetts.  Golf was a passion for his entire adult life, and he treasured his days as a member at Hatherly Country Club in Scituate and Weathervane Golf Course in Weymouth, where he would frequently play with his brothers and nephews.  Bob also had a love for music and was an accomplished bass player in several bands that performed in Boston and other South Shore music venues in the 80’s.  Inspired by his father’s WWII service, he was a longtime advocate for veterans’ organizations and took great pleasure serving for many years as the President of Battleship Cove Museum and War Memorial in Fall River.

Bobby’s greatest pride came from spending time throughout the years with his daughters and his grandchildren; whether telling stories, playing music or continuing a long family tradition of pizza dinners at the Lynwood in Randolph.

Bobby is survived by his brother, Paul Haley and his wife Jackie of Weymouth, brothers Mark Haley of Quincy and Brian Haley of Weymouth, daughters Jennifer Haley of Marshfield and Leesha Boylan and her husband Michael of Milton, stepdaughter Jamie McGregor and her wife Molly O’Toole of Foxborough, and five grandchildren, Marilyn, Haley and Will Coyle of Marshfield, and Ellie and Madeleine Boylan of Milton.

Funeral arrangements are being made by McDonald Keohane Funeral Home in South Weymouth. Interment will be private. A Memorial Service will be held at 3PM Saturday, March 4,2023 at South Shore Country Club, 274 South Street, Hingham, MA followed by a Celebration of Life reception. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bob may be made to Honor Flight.
