Robert E. Crowley

Colonel (Ret.) Robert “Bob” Emmett Crowley, 92, passed away December 6, 2017 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama.  Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Alfreida, his brother, John and his loving wife, Claire Eileen.  Bob is survived by his sons, John and Dan.

Robert was a graduate of the United States Military Academy (West Point) in 1946, and completed a 30-year career in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, including combat assignments during the Korean and Vietnam Wars.  During his service he attained his master’s degree in engineering from the University of Illinois, and retired at the rank of Colonel in 1975 as the Professor of Military Science at the University of Missouri, Rolla.

For many years, he attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Rolla, Missouri, and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as chapter secretary for more than 20 years.  In 1983, he was named Missouri’s Man of the Year by the Rotary Club of Missouri for his outstanding community service.  Robert moved to Dothan, Alabama in 2012 and lived with his son, John, and his wife, Carie.

Robert is survived by his three grandchildren, Anna, Megan and Michael, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy, Massachusetts from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Parish Church in Quincy, MA on Wednesday, December 13 at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will follow at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA at 2:30 p.m.
