Robert Burns Gage, Jr.

Gage, Robert (Bob) Burns Jr. of Weymouth, 79 years of age

Son of the late Robert and Irene Gage, Bob is survived by his loving wife Linda and their six children; Robert Gage III, Christopher Gage and his husband Paul Boucher, Timothy E. Gage, Michelle Gage, Matthew Gage and his wife Helen, Nicholas Gage and his wife Julie; ten siblings; Eleanor Fitzgerald, the late Irene Trainor, the late James Gage, Peter Gage, Ann Valcourt, Susan Werner, Patricia Gage Walsh, Steven Gage, Edward Gage, and Christine Chessia; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, 41 nieces and nephews, and 37 great-nieces and great-nephews.

A life-long resident of Weymouth, Bob graduated from Archbishop Williams High School and then joined the Navy to serve his country.  A true love story, he married his high school sweetheart, Linda, and together they celebrated 58 loving years of marriage. His greatest joy was in being a father, not only to his own kids but to the many in his extended family that he lovingly took under his wing. Through his love and tireless support, he raised very accomplished children earning a variety of degrees from an MBA, airline pilot, lawyers, electricians, small business owner and a Full-Bird Colonel. His entrepreneurial spirit, curiosity and zest for life enabled him to realize the American dream. After serving his country, he started a family, started several thriving businesses, including Hingham Auto Clinic and Instrument Controls and Electronics (ICE), owned multiple residential and rental properties. He also worked at Armstrong World Industries in Braintree and Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge.

The world needs more people like Bob Gage. He was always there, willing to lend a hand, tell a story to make you smile or a funny joke to make you laugh. He gave everyone in his very large, extended family a deep sense of love, peace and security. Bob was a bright light who loved unconditionally, generated positive energy, and will be sincerely missed by all who knew and loved him. To know Bob, was to love Bob.

“Bumpa” as his grandchildren affectionately called him, will be remembered for his generous, kind, adventurous, happy, easy-going spirit and for enjoying every day to its fullest. His list of passions run long, and taking the annual family trip to Martha’s Vineyard, playing piano, music, drawing, golfing and snowmobiling top the list.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8:45 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 9:30 AM.  A private, family burial will be held on Tuesday morning at the Mass National Cemetery in Bourne.
