Rita (Wood) Nightingale of Rockland, died October 23, 2018 at the age of 97.

Rita was raised and educated in Dorchester, graduating from St. Gregory’s High School. She worked for Stowell’s Jewelry in Boston for 25 years and was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Leisurewoods Bowling League.

She was the wife of the late John V. Nightingale. Loving mother of John Nightingale of Cotuit, Paul Nightingale and his wife Joanne of West Melbourne, FL, Jean Murphy and her husband Gerald of FL, Janet Nightingale, Susan Nightingale, both of Randolph, Anne Nightingale of Dorchester, and the late Mary Nightingale. Sister of Gertrude Nault of South Yarmouth and the late Lorraine Cotter, Helen MacDonald, Ralph Wood and John Wood. Also survived by granddaughter Lizabeth Loud and great grandson Eaghan Loud and Bobby, Suzanne, Cheryl, Christine, Suzanne, Shawn, Erin, Gerald, Jr. and their children.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in Holy Family Church, Rockland at 9AM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Foxboro.
