Richard O. “Richie” Newell

Richard O. “Richie” Newell, of Boston and formally of Everett, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston. He was 74.

Born and raised in Everett, he was the son of the late Milford O. and Lillian E. (Atwood) Newell. Richie attended local schools and graduated high school with the Class of 1962.

Richie was kind person who cared deeply about his family and friends. He had a great sense of humor. Richie enjoyed laughing and making other people laugh with him. Through out his life, Richie enjoyed all major sports. When he was younger, he was a member of a bowling league and enjoyed playing for fun as he grew older. An avid Boston Red Sox fan, he loved to write the baseball cards and keep track during the games.

Richie was the life of the party. When the oldies would play, he would get up and dance. Though he used his cane for support, it didn’t stop him from having a good time and bringing joy to others. In his spare time, Richie enjoyed relaxing, watching television and being with family and friends.

Richie is survived by his loving Bay Cove family and friends. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Ronald J., William C. Newell and Beatrice Rozanski.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday, May 2nd from 10-11 AM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. His funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday, May 2nd at 11 AM in Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy. Services will conclude with interment in Glenwood Cemetery, Everett. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the charitable organization of one’s choice.
