Philip J. Gentile

Gentile, Philip J. of Quincy, died October 9, 2022.

Phil’s parents Fillpo and Catrina migrated from Sicily and settled in the South End of Boston where he was born on July 7, 1933, the youngest of 11 children. He adored his family and being a devout Catholic, his faith was very important to him, especially the Blessed Mother Mary. He enjoyed going to Marco Island, FL with his wife Jacqi for years and built a log cabin in Waterford, ME where they hosted family and friends for 18 years. He was a skilled woodworker and carpenter and kept busy making improvements to the 3 bedroom cabin. Phil enjoyed playing softball and watching the Patriots and Red Sox games. In every snow storm, Phil would plow the sidewalks and driveways of Shirley Street in Quincy, always helping his neighbors in need. He was an Army veteran and served during the Korean War. He worked for the Post Office in South Boston for 38 years before retiring. Phil was a quiet and content man who was very respectful and faithful to his friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Beloved husband of 63 years to Jacqueline “Jacqi” (Hennessey) Gentile. Devoted father of Rosemary Bailey of Quincy. Cherished Grampie of Caroline Bailey of Allston and the late Jeffrey A. Bailey. Predeceased by 10 siblings and survived by the loving Griffin and Gentile families.
