Philip D. “David” Wrin

Philip D. “David” Wrin of Hingham, formerly of Braintree, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 5, 2023.  He was 91.

David was born in Bennington, Vermont to Ellen (Humphrey) and Joseph Wrin.  He grew up in Arlington, Vermont and after graduating Arlington High School, David moved to Massachusetts to pursue an education.  He attended Bentley University and earned his associate degree.  Shortly after graduating, David began his career as an underwriter with The Kemper Corporation, where he worked until his retirement.

David was an avid skier and met his wife of 52 years, Mary Louise, at a ski club.  They were inseparable ever since.  They traveled whenever they could, spent their winters in New Hampshire skiing, springtime in Florida, and their summers on Cape Cod sailing and entertaining.  David also enjoyed his time at home, often sipping a gin martini while listening to jazz.  David expressed his own musical talents singing, playing the piano and performing in a few productions at Linden Ponds.  If you didn’t know David for his musical talents, you remember his sense of style and was fondly dubbed “Dapper Dan” at Linden Ponds.  David’s kind, gentle disposition will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

Beloved husband of the late Mary Louise Wrin (Long).  Loving brother of the late Humphrey J. Wrin and the late Eileen Riley.  He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visitation on Tuesday, March 14, from 9-10 AM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. The Funeral Mass will be held in the Church of the Resurrection, Hingham at 10:30 AM immediately following the visitation. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David’s name to American Macular Degeneration Foundation, PO Box 515, Northampton, MA, 01061-0515, or a charity of your choice.
