Veteran

Peter G. Anastas, Jr.

Anastas, Peter G., Jr. of Quincy, passed away on March 17, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

Caring son of the late Peter and Annabelle Anastas. Beloved husband of the late Marijane Anastas (Nee). Cherished father of Traci Anastas of Quincy and Kerri Francis and her husband Matthew of Milton. Adored brother of Geri Gallagher and her husband Jack of Braintree, Dede Tramontozzi and her husband Frank of West Roxbury, and Chrissie Anastas and her fiance Adrian Aleman of Dorchester. Dear brother-in-law of Jill Nichols and her husband Ricky of Rockland and Michael Nee and his wife Maureen of Milton. Peter is also survived by many nephews and nieces, family & friends.

Peter was born in Boston, grew up in Dorchester, and later moved to Quincy where he raised his family and was a proud resident for 38 years. He earned his degree in History from Boston State University and was a proud veteran of the United States Army. For many years, Peter owned PJ’s Mini Mart in North Quincy where he was admired in the community for his fun-loving and kind personality. Peter then became a Parcel Post carrier for the United States Postal Service for 20 years. He enjoyed trips to Walt Disney World & Foxwoods, he loved playing his lottery numbers, and his sweet tooth could never be satisfied. Peter loved the holidays and always made sure the entire neighborhood knew it with his festive outdoor decorations. A true patriot, Peter loved his country; his sports teams (especially the Patriots); and, more than anything, he loved his girls, who were the cornerstone of his life. Peter will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Boston.
