Patricia M. (Cameron) Downes, 86, died peacefully on October 17, 2016 after a period of declining health. She was surrounded by family and caregivers during her passing.

Pat was a shining example of courage, love, perseverance, and faith throughout her life.

Born in Boston and raised in West Roxbury, she loved her time with her sister Anne and friends growing up.  A graduate of Hickox Secretarial School of Boston with a degree in business. She began her career at an insurance company, then soon met Jack. They started raising a family of seven children in Brookline and in the early 1970’s were drawn to their beloved Scituate. Her family was her life! Pat was a devoted daughter, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother.

After an untimely death of her husband Jack, and after raising seven children, Pat began a career at Corcoran Management Company. She worked as the rental manager at Kent Village, Weymouth Commons, and Lincoln School Apartments. Her management style earned her respect and many friendships over her 20-year career. Her incredible faith guided her in volunteer work at the South Shore Hospital Maternity unit, voting booths, and causes that benefited the Catholic Church. Finally, Pat was a valued resident at Cardigan Nursing Home in Scituate the past few years. The family would like to thank the entire staff and the Hilton family for the outstanding care that she received.

Pat leaves her sister, Anne (Cameron) Guiney. She was predeceased by her husband, John J. Downes, daughter, Amy E. Downes, parents, Irene (Eichorn) Cameron and Archibald B. Cameron.

She also leaves 6 children: John of Florence, Peter and Kathy of Scituate, Paul and Ozzie of Lincoln, NE, Mary Anne and Matt Kackley of Upton, Andy and Maria of Portland, OR, and Matt and Tammy of Scituate. Her dear niece Ann Marley and her two children, Erin and Jake of Belchertown are also left behind. She leaves her precious grandchildren; Cameron and Hannah Kackley; Dylan, Liam, and Cameron Downes;  and Sofia and Amelia Downes. Pat’s grandchild Crystal and her husband Jeremy Trainor have four wonderful great grandchildren; Simon, Harry, Margaret, and Scarlett.

A Memorial Mass will be held for Pat on Friday, October 28th at 10 am at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate Harbor, MA 02066. A private burial will be held on Saturday.
