Mrs. Marguerite T. (Cadigan) “Rita” Murphy, of Canton, formerly of Weymouth, passed away on April 15, 2017.

Rita was born and raised in Jamaica Plain were she was the class president of St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Class of 1947. She was a resident of North Weymouth and a communicant at St. Jerome’s Church for over 60 years. She enjoyed being a Den Mother when her children were young. Beloved wife of the late George F. Murphy. Loving mother of Joan O’Neil and her husband, Thomas, of Norwell, the late Paul Murphy and his wife, Joanie, of New Hampshire, Linda DiRico and her husband, Richard, of Springfield, PA, Brian Murphy and his wife, Sue, of Abington, and Rita Murphy of Canton. Sister of the late Eileen Cadigan, the late Ivan Cadigan, Sister Mary Ivan of Framingham, the late Joseph Cadigan and the late Dorothea O’Brien. Also survived by 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Jerome Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.
