Michael J. O’Connor

O’Connor, Michael J., 77, of West Dennis, passed away February 28, 2017 peacefully in his sleep.  

Michael was born in South Boston on June 20, 1939.  He graduated from South Boston High School class of 1957.  After serving in the United States Army, he began his career as a Letter Carrier in 1970.  Shortly thereafter he found his true calling as an elected union official.  Michael proudly served Branch 34 (NALC) for over 30 years in various roles including Secretary Treasurer, President and National Officer.  Michael was a long time member of The John P. McKeon AmVets Post 146.  He enjoyed winters in Florida and summers in Saratoga and the Cape.  His main passion in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  Michael will be sadly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. 

Beloved husband of the late Helen M. O’Connor.  Loving father of Michael O’Connor, Jr. and his wife Kristyn of Canton, Richard O’Connor and his wife Christine of Canton and Mark O’Connor and his wife Margaret of Weymouth. Devoted grandfather of Riley, Donovan, Ryan, Shawn, Drew, Aidan and Jack.  Cherished brother of the late Walter Sullivan.  Also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
