Michael J. Gethin

Gethin, Michael J. of Quincy, died November 21, 2017.

Pre deceased by his beloved wife Mary “Betty” Gethin (Floyd).  Loving father of Michele Schurga of Weymouth, Lenore Cunningham and her husband Joseph of Pembroke, Michael T. Gethin and his wife the late Mary Gethin of Quincy and Lisa Atkins and her husband Charles of Quincy. Devoted Grandfather of Lisa, Beth, Michael W. Patrick, Dallas, Jessie and David.  Cherished great Grandfather of 9 great grandchildren.  Caring brother of the late John “Dutchie” Gethin, Mary Gethin Kelly and Thomas Gethin.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Michael was affectionately known to many as “Grandfather”.  He was a proud United States Army Veteran who served during WWII.  Michael was a devoted member of St. Ann’s Parish in Quincy and also a member of the choir for many years.  Michael enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking and most importantly spending time with those he loved.  He will be remembered as an honest, sincere and caring man with a funny sense of humor and adventurous character.  He will be sadly missed by all those who knew him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10:30 AM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
