Michael F. Duffy

Michael F. Duffy of Quincy died November 15, 2019, surrounded by his family. The beloved husband of 55 years to Mary C. (Gately) Duffy of Quincy, devoted father of Marie and her husband Kevin White of Braintree, David and his wife Karen Duffy of Weymouth, Kevin Duffy of Quincy, Katherine Duffy and her husband Chris Walker of Quincy, and Michael P. Duffy and Manivone Olipim of Denver, CO. Brother of Bridie Killian of Ireland and the late John Duffy, Edward Duffy, Mae Beirne, Patrick Duffy and Sarah “Sally” McDonough. Cherished Papa of Derek and Megan White, Danielle & Aidan Duffy and Jack Duffy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In 1958, Michael came to the U.S. from Roscommon, Ireland at the age of 27. He started his family in Dorchester and then moved to Quincy in 1976. He worked at the South Postal Annex for many years before his retirement in 2001. He loved sports. He played for Erin’s Hope Irish Football team and enjoyed coaching his sons’ baseball and soccer teams. He was also a great dancer and enjoyed golf, walking, and playing cards with family and friends.

The cornerstone of his life was his family, they were the strong foundation of all that was truly important to him. Michael’s legacy will be the wonderful family that has cared for him through his final years. Although heartbroken at his loss, they are grateful for all the blessings he brought into their lives and the amazing care provided to him by the staff at Alliance Health in Braintree.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Quincy.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:45am prior to the funeral mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy, at 10:30 and burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Michael may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley Street, W. Bridgewater, MA 02379-1022.
