Michael C. Chesna of Hanover, died July 15, 2018 at the age of 42.
Following 9/11, Mike joined the U.S. Army to serve his country with the 187 10th Mountain Division, serving two tours of duty, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He later fulfilled his childhood dream of becoming a police officer with the Town of Weymouth. Mike was a massive sports fan. Besides being an avid basketball player in his weekly men’s league, he followed all the Boston sports teams with a passion and had a particular devotion to Bill Belichick. Mike was a collector. Among his collection were watches, bobbleheads, baseball cards and football helmets. He was smart and generous, but most of all he loved wrestling with his son Jack and doting on his favorite girl Olivia, who will always remember her Dad’s hugs.
He was the beloved husband of Cynthia “Cindy” (Doran) Chesna. Loving father of Olivia and Jack. Cherished son of Maryann “Mimi” P. (McAvoy) Chesna and Charles F. Chesna of South Weymouth. Loving brother of Eric S. Chesna of Weymouth. Son in law of Marie and Frank Doran of Marshfield.
