It is impossible to put into words all the ways she touched family and friends over the years with her selfless giving, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her career included work with young polio victims, night supervisor of an emergency room, night shift staff nurse, and labor and delivery nurse. Regarded as a “nurses’ nurse” she received thank you notes on a monthly basis from former patients and family.
Mary Lou was predeceased by her parents, Agnes (Carney) Newcomb and John F. Newcomb and her beloved husband of 50 years, Thomas E. McLaughlin. Also predeceased by her loving sister-in-law Marguerite Newcomb of Hingham and sister-in-law Violet Richmond of Livermore Falls, ME. Mary Lou is survived by her daughter Carol McLaughlin and her partner Paul Healy of Quincy, and her beloved brother Robert A. Newcomb of Hingham.
