Mary Ellen Hurley

Hurley, Mary Ellen B. (Clifford) “Mel” of Hull, formerly of Braintree, died suddenly, February 20, 2015.

Mary Ellen’s family was the focal point of her life.  Tom and her three children represented everything that she loved and cherished in this world.  Her adventurous spirit led the family across the country on camping expeditions to many of the famous national and state parks.  She was also a part of her local community and taught her children to do the same.  Her love of the environment led her to become an instructor for Nature’s Classroom, Bushy Hill Nature Center and Camp Wabasso, as well as volunteering with the Girls Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts.

Mel’s sense of community included her volunteering her time with Wellspring Multi Service Center in Hull, where she became the Transportation Manager as well as participating in their annual Drowned Hog events.  Mel was one of the “Drama Mama’s” at Hull High School’s Theatre Arts Program.

Her faith was also an important part of her life and she was involved in many of the activities at St. Mary of the Assumption Parish at St. Ann’s Church in Hull.  She was always trying to help others, improve the environment, and give back to her community.  She will be remembered for her selfless ways, caring heart, and adventurous spirit.
