Mary E. Folan

Folan, Mary E. (Deschenes) of Quincy, died January 11, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.

The beloved wife of the late John F. Folan. Loving mother of Mark Folan and his wife Megan of Hanover, Ann (Folan) Servaes and her husband Donald of Braintree and Christopher Folan of Quincy. Sister of John Deschenes of Westwood and the late Norman Deschenes and Joan Picard. Cherished Grammy to William, Salvatore, Kathleen and John. Daughter of the late Rene C. and Agatha E.(Ritcher) Deschenes. Dear friend of Phil Murphy of Milton. Mary is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Mary loved her family, extended family and friends. She graduated from Quincy City Hospital School of Nursing in 1964 and spent her nursing career at Quincy City Hospital for 50 years. She loved to travel with her friends and vacationing at her home in Melbourne, FL. Mary loved to entertain and could cook for an army.

She was happiest when her house was full of family and friends. Mary LOVED football but none so much as her beloved Patriots. She came from a large extended family and so her family and friends were the world to her. But the loves of her life were her grandchildren (her “cherubs”).

She loved attending all their events and took great pride in every single one of their accomplishments, big or small! Mary’s zest for life showed in everything she did. She was the “fun one” and loved bringing joy to the lives of everyone she met. Her gift for making people laugh through her storytelling is the legacy she leaves for all of us.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.

Donations in memory of Mary may be made to Quincy Animal Shelter, 56 Broad St., Quincy, MA 02169.
