Mary Alice Papile

Mary A. (Dentino) Papile, a lifetime resident of Weymouth, passed away on December 15th at the age of 94.

She was the wife, for 66 years, to the late Arthur J. Papile. Oldest of five children born to the late Enrico Dentino and Madeline (Hollis) Dentino. She is predeceased by her sisters Viola Coates, Louise Smith, her brother Tony Dentino, and her eldest daughter Betty Smith. Mary is survived by her brother David Dentino and the loving mother to Michael Papile of Taunton, Richard Papile of Weymouth, Jack Papile and his wife Barbara of Rockland, Larry Papile of New Bedford, Donna Pope and her husband Larry of Plympton, and Rosemary Lyons and her husband Rob of Weymouth. Adoring grandmother of 21 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mary was born in 1924 and grew up in East Weymouth by the iconic Denley’s Pizza. Her life changed one night when a handsome, young, Italian man asked her for the time while she was watching a movie at the Strand movie theater in Quincy. Mary and Arthur were married in 1947. They raised their 7 children in a modest home on Broad Street in Weymouth, where she continued to live until her passing. Her fondest memories were of the huge neighborhood cookouts she and Arthur hosted on the 4th of July each year. In her younger days, Mary was an avid candlepin bowler, enjoying the company of her friends on the Hit or Miss bowling league. She will be sadly missed.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home EAST WEYMOUTH at 3 Charles Street (corner of Charles & Middle Street).

Funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Thursday at 10 AM.

Burial in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mary’s memory to Weymouth Elder Services, 182 Green St, North Weymouth, MA 02191.
