Martin J. Connors

Martin J. Connors of Quincy, born in Boston on September 18, 1928, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2023.  Martin was the son of the late Patrick and Mary Connors, the beloved husband of Barbara R. (Gunning) Connors for 69 years. Martin was the loving father of Barbara O’Connell and her husband Robert of Mansfield, Debra Baldasare and her husband Joseph of Mansfield, Charlotte Arnold and her husband Stephen of Kennebunk, ME, Colleen Polk and her husband James of Marblehead, brother of the late Mary McGee, and the cherished and loving grampy of Katherine and Alison O’Connell, Matthew and Emma Baldasare, Connor and Hunter Arnold, and Grace and Charlotte Polk. Martin is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Martin was born and raised in Dorchester. Martin married the love of his life Barbara R. (Gunning), and together in Dorchester they happily raised their four daughters. Martin had a strong work ethic and worked diligently in the food service industry throughout his working life to support his family. Martin was a Korean War era veteran of the United States Army, he served overseas, and attained the rank of Sergeant First Class prior to his discharge from the service. Martin was always a devout Catholic, and he was very much proud of his Irish heritage. Martin was a member of the Irish Pastoral Center in Dorchester, and he was also an an active member of the Knights of Columbus in Dorchester where he enjoyed participating in Knights of Columbus fund raising events. Martin was in addition a member of the Francis G. Kane American Legion Post in Dorchester where he served as post Treasurer for many years.

But most of all Martin was so very proud of his family, and will be remembered forever as a man of great religious faith, a friend to many in his community, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a cherished and loving grampy to his eight grandchildren who he loved with all his heart. Martin will be sadly missed by all of those who were blessed to have known him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday 9:00-10:30 AM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 10:30 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 11 AM.
