McGann, Marie E. Quincy, MA., passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on December 28, 2018.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, William and Margaret McAuliffe, her husband of 48 years John P. McGann, her sisters Jacqueline Rogers and Claire Leary, and brother William McAuliffe.  She is survived by her sister Ann Shea.

Beloved Mother of John (Linda) McGann, Kathleen (Stephen) Nickerson, Kevin (Kathleen) McGann and Dennis (Helen) McGann.

Grandmother of Kerri (Richard), John (Sarah), Matthew, Michael, James, Stephanie, Anna, Meredith and Timothy.

Great Grandmother of Ryan, Brielle, Elliot, Thomas and Juliana.

Aunt of 36 nieces and nephews and survived by many other relatives and dear friends.

Marie was born and raised in Dorchester (Neponset/St. Ann Parish).  Her family was the axis from which the world turned. Marie was a devout Roman Catholic with unwavering faith.  In the 1960’s, she was locally known in Neponset as one of the original “Crossing Guards” at the corner of Ashmont Street and Neponset Ave. Marie later worked for 30 years at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Dorchester, where she had the opportunity to fall in love with every newborn baby.

The McGann family will receive relatives and friends from 4:00 to 8:00pm on Thursday January 3, 2019 at Keohane Funeral Home on 785 Hancock Street in Quincy.  Funeral services will be held on Friday January 4, 2019 at 10 am at St. Ann Church on Neponset Ave. in Dorchester. Interment to follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Dorchester.  The family humbly requests that donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the Sisters of St. Joseph 637 Cambridge St. Brighton, MA 02135.
