Marie Ann Caci

Caci, Marie Ann (Bastianelli) of Newburyport, died January 22, 2023.  She was 92.

Born in Waltham, MA in 1930 to the late Emilio and Josephine (Berinato) Bastianelli,she was the oldest of four children. Marie was predeceased by her devoted husband, Stephen F. Caci. In 1952, Marie graduated from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. Marie was one of three women in her graduation class. An exemplary student, Marie achieved a perfect score on Licensing Boards. As a young pharmacist, Marie began her career at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in Boston. Upon marriage and becoming a mother of three daughters, Marie worked evenings at Lawrence Pharmacy in Quincy. Marie returned to the hospital environment once her youngest daughter entered middle school. Her career was ever changing at Quincy City Hospital with the the introduction of technology. Marie was an amazing woman who was ahead of her time.

Marie was known to be a selfless woman. She took great pride in caring for others, donating her time volunteering, and always helping anyone in need. Marie was an exceptional cook and was known for her never ending holiday meals. She enjoyed cooking all the Italian foods for her family and was known for her “Feast of the Seven Fishes” that she prepared on Christmas Eve. There was always room for one more guest at Marie’s table. Marie loved to bake everything from scratch. If she knew it was someone’s birthday, she was known to bake a sweet surprise. Marie was a remarkable seamstress. She sewed all of her and the children’s clothes. Her daughters recall finding their mother awake and sewing in the early morning hours. Marie enjoyed long walks with her husband Stephen. Walking, their favorite destination was Wessagussett Beach in North Weymouth, where they resided for 45 years. Marie & Steve loved to travel to new destinations, whether it be by car, airplane or cruise ship. Locally, they enjoyed Maine & New Hampshire and were known to take many long weekends at either destination. Memorable excursions include Bermuda, Sanibel Island, Hawaii, California, Montreal and Quebec. Together, Marie & Steve volunteered many years at the Weymouth Food Pantry. Marie dedicated one hour each day to prayer and her rosary. Marie was a Eucharist minister at St. Jerome Parish in North Weymouth. Her spiritual dedication led her on two pilgrimages to Medjugorje, Apparition Hill. Passing away on her 67th wedding anniversary, her daughters believe she chose that day ‘to go home to the Lord and her beloved Stephen’.

Loving mother to Corinne Caci Cafardo and her husband Federico of Hanson, Marianne Naffah and her husband Charles of Groveland, Christine Caci Graham and her husband Scott of Westford. Dear sister to Joanne Sauro and her late husband Peter, Dolores Premo and the late Corinne Bastianelli. Adoring grandmother to Stephanie Cook and her husband Michael, Scott Graham II and his wife Alicia, Joseph Naffah, Zachary Cafardo, Cassandre Graham, and JulianaRose Graham and her fiancé Thomas Allen. Great grandmother to Isabella Graham, Anya Cook and Kendall Graham.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Friday 11 AM – 12 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Funeral service will be held immediately following visiting hours at 12:00 PM. Burial in Old North Cemetery, Weymouth. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marie’s name may be made to Alzheimers Assn., MA Chapter, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452.
