Maria Gomes Fugler of Hingham, formerly of Scituate and Cape Verde, passed away November 12, 2018.

Maria was a hardworking woman who started as a machine inspector at Winchester Rifle, after coming to the United States and later excelled as a home health aide on the South Shore. She was happiest when cooking for loved ones, tinkering in her garden or walking the beach in Hull.

Beloved wife of David Fugler of Hingham. Devoted mother of Charles Hudson Mendes and his wife Kate of Hingham, Monica DeFatima Mayfield of Georgia, Derek Mendes and his wife Johanna of Holbrook, Heather Hermida and her husband Milan of Weymouth and Hilary Mendes of Hingham. Cherished Vovo of Isabella, Adrian, Julius, Malia and her soon to be 5th grandchild. Loving sister of Neneca Gomes of Scituate, Noquinha Gomes of Germany, Francisco Gomes of Scituate, Adelina Pinto of Weymouth, Noli Gomes of Brockton and Rosie Wiest of New Mexico. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Plus a dear friend of the Ahern, Hunt and Sullivan families.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10 AM. Burial at a later date.
