Margaret E. Pierce

Margaret E. (McLellan) Pierce of Abington, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2022. She was 85 years old.

Born in Somerville to the late Norman and Virginia (Johnson) McLellan. Margaret was raised in Somerville before marrying Richard and then raising their family together in Maynard. After spending many years devoted to raising her three children, she enjoyed her jobs outside of the home, including a job as a Lunch Lady at Emerson Fowler Jr.High in Maynard, and then for Digital Equipment Corporation in Maynard, and finally as a Payroll Clerk for the Department of Employment and Training in Boston until her retirement. Margaret had many interests including coloring in her coloring books. She was a very competitive Bingo and Yahtzee player and may in fact hold the unofficial record for most rounds of Yahtzee ever played. Margaret loved reading books on her Kindle and also was a fan of the Hallmark Channel. She was a talented cake decorator and baker and was known for wearing unique hats. Margaret enjoyed driving her PT Cruiser and sharing it with her grandchildren. Her greatest pride and joy was her family and the time spent with them. She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew her.

She was the wife of the late Richard A. Pierce and the beloved mother of Allyson Gately and her partner Anthony Kazlauskas of Abington, Steven J. Pierce of Lexington, and the late Jeffrey Pierce. Dear sister to Phyllis Santoro and her husband Robert of State College PA, and the late Norman and Allen McLellan. Cherished grandmother of Stacia Lynn Pierce of Charlton, Daniel C. Gately of Quincy, Derek Gately and his wife Charlotte of Abington, and Dylan Gately of Abington. She was the great-grandmother of Oliver and Theo Gately of Abington. Margaret will also be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday 11/30/2022 from 5-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Bridget’s Church, Abington on Thursday 12/01/2022 at 10:30 AM . Burial will be held privately in Glenwood Cemetery, Maynard.
