Murphy, Margaret E. (Gilmore) of Rockland, formerly of Hingham, died May 23, 2018.

Beloved wife of 53 years to Vincent Murphy of Rockland.  Loving mother of Brian Murphy and his wife Lesa of Colorado, Maureen Murphy of New York, Pauline Avery and her husband Al of Maynard, Brenda Murphy and her husband Erik Boucher of Maine and Mark Murphy of Rockland. Devoted Grandma of Maeve, Declan, Mairead, Colm, Padraig, Zoe, Miles, Eliot, Giovanni and Gabriella.  Also survived by many cherished extended family and friends.

Margaret was born in County Sligo, Ireland and came to the United States in her teens to live with her aunt and uncle.  She was family oriented and adored time spent with family, friends and neighbors.  Margaret and Vincent happily raised their children in Charleston, West Virginia.  Margaret enjoyed planting and gardening and in her early twenties was a graceful ballroom dancer and an admitted “gutter-ball” bowler.  She will be remembered for her kind, reserved and loving personality.  Margaret will be sadly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Relatives and friends are invited to join us on Monday, May 28, 4:00 to 7:30 PM at the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Funeral Mass will be held in the Church of the Resurrection, Hingham at 12:00 PM Tuesday.  Internment in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.
