Linda A. Gasper

Gasper, Linda A. (Quinlan) of Hingham (formerly Bellingham), died peacefully on April 9, 2018, at home.

At her side when she died was her devoted and beloved husband of 42 years, Ronald L. Gasper of Hingham.  In addition to Ron, she is survived by her four sons and “adopted” daughter: Ryan Gasper (Renee) of Bellingham, Michael Gasper (Jill) of Virginia, Trevor Gasper (Susie) of Indiana, Tyler-John (Ashley) of Halifax, and Nicole (Morin) Erickson of Arizona.  She is also survived by 9 grandchildren (Amethyst, Cameron, Julianna, Leo, Nic, Emma, Cierra, Kelley and Violet).  She was the daughter of the late John V. and Minerva (Krampitz) Quinlan and was the sister of Michael Quinlan of New Hampshire.  She was preceded in death by her brother Bobby Quinlan and sister Maureen Corcoran.  She is also survived by her longtime friend Marcia Wheeler and by many nieces and nephews.

Linda graduated from Boston College in 1972 and later went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Journalism from Boston University.  While at Boston College, Linda attended Woodstock and participated in the hippie, anti-war movement.  As all who knew her can attest, Linda was an independent and free spirit.  In her professional life, Linda worked as a newspaper reporter and writer and enjoyed challenging authority, in writing and otherwise.  In her personal life, she was fiercely loyal to and relished in the accomplishments of her children.  She would have done anything for her boys and adored her grandchildren.  She will be sadly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

In her final weeks, Linda was able to connect with the family of her biological mother and was able to visit with two of her biological sisters.  Being able to meet this new family and fill in some missing pieces of her life brought her peace, comfort, and joy.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM at the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home in North Weymouth at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 10:30 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Parish, Hingham at 11:30 AM.  Burial in Holyhood Cemetery, Boston.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Linda may be made to Catholic Charities of Boston (https://donate.ccab.org), 51 Sleeper St., Boston, MA 02210.

Linda’s family would like to extend their deep gratitude and appreciation to the caregivers of Coastal Care Senior Solutions, Maura Bailey, and her team of Sharon, Arlinda, Maggie, Julie, Marlene, Gail, Chrissy, Joanne, and Lucy, who have cared for Linda during these last few trying weeks at home.
