Kathryn Marie (Shepard) Baird

Kathryn Marie (Shepard) Baird, of Hingham, formerly of Watertown, died suddenly at her home on Wednesday, July 3, 2019. She was 71.

Born in Boston, she was raised in Watertown and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Hayes) Shepard and attended local schools. Kathryn graduated from the St. Patrick’s High School in Watertown with the Class of 1966.

A homemaker, Kathryn loved her family more than anything. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for the people she loved and cared for. What gave her most enjoyment in life was spending time with her family and grandchildren. Her children and grandchildren made her proud and she was passionate about making the time she had with them special. In her spare time, Kathryn enjoyed cooking, visiting with family and friends, shopping and talking on the phone. She was a people person and everyone was drawn to her. Kathryn was generous, loving, thoughtful, social, and outgoing. Her life lessons, teachings and morals are her legacy that continue through her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by all the lives she touched.

Kathryn was the beloved wife of the late Richard A. Baird, who died in 2016. Together they shared many loving years of marriage. She was devoted mother of Sarah E. Baird of Needham and Keith E. Baird of Hingham. Kathryn was also the devoted stepmother of Alice C. Baird of Waltham. She was the loving grandmother of Emma, Grace and Jacob Heckman, all of Needham and Adrian Baird of Hingham. Kathryn was the dear sister-in-law of Pam Boland and her husband Tom of Maine. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
