Kathleen (Hosty) Cornell age 85 died peacefully at home on October 9th, surrounded by loving family and friends.

Born in Co Mayo Ireland, Kathleen emigrated to the United States in 1951. Family was everything to Kathleen and she worked hard her entire life taking care of her children. Kathleen was an employee of Valle’s Steakhouse, and continued to work in the restaurant industry for many years. A long time resident of Weymouth, Kathleen enjoyed spending time outdoors and riding her bike through town. She loved being with her family, and vacationing in Florida. She was a talented knitter, and made beautiful gifts for family, friends and neighbors. She took great pride in her home and maintained it herself right up to the end. Her strength of character and spirit were unmatched by any. She was truly one of a kind.

Loving mother of Kathryn Cornell of Abington, Paul Cornell and his fiancé Donna D’Andrea of Westfield N.J., Pamela Cornell of Cambridge, Thomas Cornell of Abington and Donald Cornell and his wife Kelly of Plymouth. Long time companion of Thomas Murphy. Proud Grandmother (GD) of Colleen, Kevin, Haley, Harrison, Brendan and Sean. Daughter of the late Patrick and Noreen (Kerrin) Hosty of Co Mayo Ireland, sister to the late Mary (Hosty) King, Thomas Hosty and Michael Hosty. Kathleen is survived by her sisters Margaret Hosty of New York and Nora (Hosty) Colfer of England. Kathleen leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 10 AM. Cremation will follow.
