Katherine (Brown) Angell – Mann died peacefully February 28, 2014 at the Rice Eventide Home in Quincy.
Katherine was born in Lowell MA on July 12, 1912, the daughter of Rev. Tom and Amelia (McMartin) Brown. She was a 1934 graduate of Eastern Nazarene College with a major in Latin and the classics. Katherine was the beloved wife for fifty years of Wesley G. Angell who died in 1987. She later married Dr. Edward S. Mann, to whom she was married for seventeen years. She worked for the University of Connecticut Extension Service and as presidential secretary at Eastern Nazarene College. She volunteered until age 98 as a historical interpreter with the college archive, and was a founding member of the ENC Alumni Association. Katherine was a life-long member of the Nazarene Church, and conveyed Christ’s love to all whom she met. Katherine was a seventy-five year resident of Quincy MA and was able to manage life in her own home until shortly before her passing because of the kind and loving care she received from her neighbors, family and friends. She was a summer resident for ninety-six years of Marion MA, and enjoyed gardening, sailing, sewing and relaxing at the beach. Katherine also enjoyed traveling throughout Canada, the United States, and Europe. She was the consummate hostess, who welcomed all who showed up at her door. She will be fondly remembered for her service, humility, practical jokes, and her love of roses, which grew around the house and graced her table for many years.
She was predeceased by her siblings Tom Brown and Margaret Brown Harding. Katherine is survived by Gary and Susan Angell of Sonoma CA, Gordon and Bethany Angell of New London CT, Dr. Katherine Angell of Oneonta NY, and her former daughter-in-law Liz Angell of Natick, MA. She is also survived by four step children, Edward and Carol Mann of Weymouth MA, Merritt and Judy Mann of Weymouth MA, Robert and Angie Mann of Mansfield Park TX, and Richard and Vonda Mann of Hough’s Neck, MA. Katherine was grandmother to Joshua and Nathaniel Angell, Heather Angell- Robledo and Jennifer Angell-DeMeis, great grandmother to Joaquin, Gabriel and Diego Robledo, Noah, Finn and Emmett DeMeis, Montgomery and Hana Angell. She was known as “Grammy K” to her step grand and great grandchildren, and “Aunt K” to numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday, March 5th from 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.
